Meet the Executive Team

Chris Wall

• CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER •

Chris Wall is a founder and CIO of Storie Co.  With varied experience founded in banking, Chris launched a $700 million hotel lending platform for an international financial institution. In acquisitions, Chris has overseen over $1 billion of hotel transactions and $4 billion of new debt and refinances in addition to strategic M&A executions.

Chris earned his degrees from the University of Iowa in Business Administration, Finance, and Management; and most recently worked for Watermark Lodging Trust.  He is responsible for leading Storie Co.’s investment strategy, capital markets, and acquisitions.

Nathan Nichols

• CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER •

Nathan Nichols is a founder and CEO of Storie Co. He has led asset management, finance, and market-specific strategy of $1.5 billion of urban and destination hotel and resort properties throughout the United States.

Nathan’s career began in operations where he held various senior leadership positions including general manager at Hutton Hotel in Nashville, a Forbes Four-Star hotel, and L’Horizon Resort and Spa rated the best resort in the world. More recently, Nathan worked for Brookfield Properties.  At Storie Co., Nathan leads operations, asset management, and strategic positioning. 

Troy Schroeder, 

• VICE PRESIDENT OF ASSET MANAGEMENT •

With over 40 years in the hospitality industry, Troy brings a wealth of experience, having overseen 40+ assets across 26 markets in his career. His expertise spans boutique hotels, resorts, and major convention properties, along with brand conversions, ownership transitions, large-scale renovations, and ground-up  development.


Most recently with Aimbridge Hospitality, Troy’s leadership and operational insights will be instrumental as we continue to optimize and grow our portfolio of resort properties.

Fergus Washington-Smith

• SENIOR ANALYST •

Fergus Washington-Smith is a Senior Analyst at Storie Co., where he supports investment analysis and asset positioning for the Storie Co Portfolio. Prior to joining Storie Co., he worked in equity research, corporate M&A, and for an institutional LP, bringing a well-rounded perspective on both capital allocation and value creation.

Originally from New Zealand, Fergus combines a global investment background with a passion for outdoor recreation, supporting Storie Co’s mission to transform underutilized hospitality assets into vibrant destination resorts. Fergus also sits on the board of the CFA Society of Indianapolis and The Young Professionals of Central Indiana.

Jessica Bailey

• CONTROLLER •

Jessica Bailey serves as Controller of Storie Co., bringing over a decade of financial leadership experience across real estate, hospitality, and private equity-backed ventures. With a strong foundation in accounting and financial operations, Jessica has overseen the implementation of scalable financial systems and reporting frameworks that support organizational growth and investor transparency.
 

Before joining Storie Co., Jessica held key finance roles at several nationally recognized real estate and hospitality firms, where she was instrumental in optimizing internal controls, managing multi-entity consolidations, and leading audit and compliance initiatives. At Storie Co., Jessica is responsible for managing all aspects of corporate accounting, financial reporting, and treasury operations

Tadd Miller

Principal of Storie Co., co-founder & CEO of Milhaus. 

Tadd Miller is the co-founder and CEO of Milhaus. He has led the development, finance and construction of $1.5 billion of urban multi-family and mixed-use properties throughout the Midwest and Southeast. At Milhaus, Tadd leads corporate strategy and business development and serves on the Milhaus, LLC Board of Directors.  Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and Development from Ball State University, Executive Education Series from Harvard Business School, MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University, JD from Indiana University School of Law.

Greg Martin

Principal of Storie Co. & COO of Milhaus. 

Greg Martin is the co-founder and COO of Milhaus. Greg leads the Development, Construction, Asset Management, IT and Property Management teams ensuring best-of-class execution across all departments. Greg’s projects total over $900M of which he’s experienced at development, brokerage, construction, asset management, appraisal and market analysis of investment grade properties.  Greg earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University with majors in Finance and Real Estate.

Andy Lahr

Principal of Storie Co. & CFO of Onyx+East.

Andy Lahr is the CFO of Onyx+East, past CFO/COO of Milhaus, and co-founder of Milhaus. Andy leads the financial strategy of Onyx+East and is responsible for financial and business execution. He oversees finance, accounting, IT, legal, risk management, administration and HR as well as capital sources. Andy has 15 years of experience in real estate development.  Andy earned his bachelor’s degree from Ball State University – Miller College of Business with majors in Business Management, Economics and Finance.

Bruce Gonyea

Principal of Storie Co. & Professor of Finance & Management at Marian University. 

Bruce brings over 20 years of experience both domestically and internationally in senior management and advisory positions in financial services. Bruce has guided firms through new equity raises and evaluated value and opportunity in multiple sectors and asset classes. Bruce received a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.

Dan Ryan

Principal of Storie Co. & CEO of Agency 967. 

Dan has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector as a founder of a suite of hospitality companies. He is a member of the board of advisors for the Independent lodging conference, founder and host of the Defining Hospitality podcast and founder of Agency 967 and Blue Canary Solutions. Dan earned a professional degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
